Leaf on Parliament Street
OUR STORY
Leaf began as a small tea shop run by friends in a Liverpool city centre gallery in 2007. Now we are nestled in the heart of Bold Street, spread over 2 spacious floors with couches, cafe and acoustic stage downstairs and an upstairs that transforms between being an art gallery, live room, night club and huge event space! When we started, our quest was to bring quality loose leaf tea to the city in an intimate and bohemian space. By early 2008 we knew we had found something we loved doing, and needed to expand so flew the nest in the quest to find somewhere more permanent.
We were looking to take ourselves off the beaten track, in a big versatile place that showed loads of potential. So in late 2008 Leaf Tea Shop and Bar opened on Parliament Street.
After a rough ride through stormy recession waters, with no passing trade and a blooming big space to fill, we started to make some amazing progress. Leaf on Parliament Street, started to raft up many accolades and awards both locally and nationally. We developed a fabulous team of staff and T.H.E B.E.S.T regular customers a tea shop could ever dream of. By this point we were hosting club nights, pudding clubs, album launches, vintage markets and much more besides.
Looking for a bigger space to house all of our monthly events and café all in one, we found a truely magnificent building in autumn 2010. Formerly a tea room in the 1920’s, a cinema in the late 20th Century and most recently Microzine clothes shop, Leaf on Bold Street stands in a beautiful art-deco building.
The exciting opening of Leaf on Bold Street however also sadly saw the closure of Leaf on Parliament Street shortly after; just as caterpillars turn into butterflies!
Our new home on Bold Street expands our ethos in a space that can accommodate more and present a variety of events in a distinctive setting. Leaf on Bold Street has a unique vibe and personality, using 2 floors to deliver diversity.
We host art, vintage markets, music and club nights, plus serve up delicious, wholesome food and hundreds of varieties of tea in a unique atmosphere. Leaf is a place for people to relax and enjoy culture and soak up the best in new music.
We are passionate about good quality food and drinks and a creative and imaginative space to hang out at any time of the day. We work closely with foodies, creatives, academics and musos to develop an events programme to appeal to like-minded individuals.
