Harvest Sun Presents... Veronica Falls

08/03/2012

Named as one the ten best albums of 2011 by Rough Trade, the self titled debut album was released late last year to great critical acclaim. Some of the praise also went on to say "a gloriously morose blend of melancholia, gothic gloom and a set of tuneful, snarling post punk pop nuggets, all rendered with beautifully structured boy/girl harmonies and a searing, energetic, muscular guitar sound.

Their huantingly melancholic sounds shall be heard radiating out of LEAF on Bold St. on 8th March.

Harvest Sun Presents.. Cass McCombs

07/03/2012

Underground musician Cass McCombs was called unobtrusively brilliant" by the legendary John Peel. Rather than fulfilling the stereotype of the confessional singer-songwriter, he describes the lifestyles and feelings of those that surround him, with more love than judgement: drugs, Scientology, Western America, and so on, in allegorical form. With an affection for them all.

With a very special guest Mike Heron (The Incredible String Band)

With influences such as Lomax Field Recordings, James Carr, Bill Callahan and Tom Waits, Cold Specks has a voice that evokes the ‘spirit feel’ of some of the greatest soul and gospel singers to date.

Communion Music, in association with Mellowtone & See the Sound presents.. Rae Morris

23/02/2012

Communion Music, in association with Mellowtone & See the Sound presents... Rae Morris

Rae Morris is an 18 year old singer-songwriter from Blackpool. Learning piano at an early age and forever underestimating her ability, Rae recently found a voice she didn’t know she had. Make your own comparisons, but be sure to notice a girl of maturity beyond her years. Cleverly matching her inimitable voice to songs of new experiences, those defining challenges like love and not always being able to have the answers, Rae is the epitome of raw and claims nothing else.

DAVE O'GRADY

Irish blues man, recently signed to Guardian Angels records. After his last Mellowtone appearance hosting our collaboration with Liverpool Irish Festival, we're delighted that he's back to play a full set.

THOMAS J SPEIGHT

Last year saw the digital release of his EP ‘Willow Tree’ (Young & Lost Club). The EP has received widespread acclaim from a number of sources for it’s insightful lyrics and intricate arrangements.
